60TB hard drives come in 2016
Remember to Seagate and their technologies to achieve up to 60TB of storage in a single hard disk? At that time no details were given on the date on which consumers would see products with these characteristics, however, the analyst firm iSuppli now IHS confirms that in 2016 we should see the long-awaited come true 60tb in showcases around the world.
And it is said, during the period from 2011 to 2016 the density on the plates of the disks should be more than doubled, reaching up to 1.800 Gigabits (Gb) per square inch, allowing 3.5-inch discs up to 60TB and 2.5 inches up to 20TB.
The idea is to occupy this class of devices in enterprise Storage units, although all implementations could benefit with multimedia entertainment centers and gaming consoles, even to traditional PCs by 2016.
