AMD 2013 roadmap of products for laptops and servers

AMD 2013 roadmap of products for laptops and servers

Since last event Developer Summit (AFDS) 2012 we have received a variety of news many of which we could not publish for lack of time, but I promise to post some of the other this weekend. Returning to the ads, this time AMD brings its product for the next year.

Platform Roadmap 2013 for the consumer market
For this segment, AMD announced its future 3rd generation made the manufacturing process to 28nm, which will be shaped by the APU (for notebooks and Ultrathins high performance), (for notebooks and Ultrathins economic) and (for tablets and devices to other formats “nontraditional”).

All these new APU possess up to 4 cores and 3.6W to 5.9W TDPs of (Temash) of 9W to 25W (Kabini) and 15W to 35W (Kaveri), the low TDP of future building APU premitira cooled notebooks passive (fanless).

Kabini Temash and x86 cores are composed based on the new Jaguar microarchitecture, the successor to the current Bobcat, while Kaveri will be based on micro-architecture and also possess graphics architecture-based Core Graphics Next (GCN) both units (x86 and graphics) will be greater integration and a new unified memory controller, which allows both units to share data in a unified address space, a feature that aims to increase performance and ease of programming.

AMD also announced its future micro-architectures for low power which will have a less than 3 and 2 Watts.

Roadmap 2013 for platforms
In February this year, AMD unveiled its product roadmap for this year , but next year promises new server platforms, which will likely require new sockets, and almost certainly will be based on the micro-architecture Steamroller.

Unfortunately AMD has not given details about them, unless they are divided into two very distinct groups: CPUs (without IGP) and APUs, the latter figure is no surprise since this year is rumored to make appearances the first Opteron-based the Trinity APU .
