AMD Socket FM2 bear the Kaveri APU
According to the latest rumors, the apu AMD A-Series second generation “Trinity” for desktop socket FM2 will be launched on 1 October this year , with the new chipset amd A85X (recently leaked images of a motherboard FM2 socket ).
The AMD A-Series APU second generation (A-5000 Series) will be based on the new micro-architecture also Piledriver , the second generation AMD modular architectures (the first Bulldozer) trinity also the graphics architecture also debuts VLIW4 ( the IGP of Llano is based on VLIW5), used in the AMD Radeon HD 6900 GPUs.
Due to generational breakthrough (new x86 and GPU), the new Trinity APU will not be backwards compatible with socket FM1 Llano APU used in (A-3000 Series), but AMD promises that the fm2 socket still have a long life supports at least two generations of APUs, so it will also support the Kaveri APU (based on the micro-architecture Steamroller+ Graphic Graphics Core Next “GCN”) and perhaps a future based APU future also micro- Excavator architecture.
The socket FM2 is emerging as a socket very long-lived in the tradition of other sockets of AMD as remembered socket A (endured the CPUs Athlon 1st and 2nd generation Athlon XP 1st and 2nd generation, and Sempron for Socket A) and socket AM2/AM2 + (endured the CPUs Athlon 64, Athlon 64 X2, Phenom, Athlon II, Phenom II, Sempron Semprom 1000 and 100 Series).
