Another one falling: Twitter will remove the permissions to Tumblr

began implementing its controversial changes to the rules of use of its API , and are already dropping some of the victims. The company cut relations with LinkedIn , eliminated the option to search through Twitter friends who had Instagram, and now it was the turn of Tumblr.

The new users had the option to search for friends using services like Facebook, Gmail and Twitter. That option was now removed, leaving only the first two.

Tumblr said he was “really disappointed by the decision of Twitter”, adding that its distribution system “is responsible for hundreds of millions of tweets.” The social network has not commented on his decision to cut benefits to Tumblr.

Twitter will seek to enforce its new policies, which have several goals. The company is looking to make money, so one of the first steps is to eliminate services that compete directly with him through clients like Tweetbot, Echofon and Twitterific. It also attempts to reduce traffic (and therefore having processing costs) generated by third-party applications. Cuts to Instagram and Tumblr seem to obey the latter.

Also, try to control how the content is displayed, something that will be useful for displaying in controlled social network.
