Avoton Intel: Atom to 22nm server comes in 2013
intel atom microprocessors for servers known by its code name Centerton make their appearance during the second half of this year, but have not yet been launched, companies like HP have announced servers based on it as the HP server Gemini .
But Centerton is just the first of many server Atom, and Intel from already announced their future Atom Avoton, the successor of Centerton, which will probably be available during the second half of next year (2013).
Intel has not disclosed any details of Avoton, unless it is manufactured with a 22nm manufacturing process Intel Tri-gate (Centerton is manufactured with the 32nm manufacturing process). The fact that it is made with a 22nm manufacturing process makes me suppose that Avoton be based on the new micro-architecture Silvermont (Centerton is based on the old micro-architecture Bonnell).
We assume that Avoton be available in versions with up to four x86 cores, and if they are based on Silvermont should provide a significant performance increase over Centerton.
Although Intel has not given any trade name for any of these products, will assume under the xeon brand.
