Battlefield 4: The beginning of the end for the 32-bit PC games?

A few hours ago AMD claimed that the three major consoles in the industry are determined based on their hardware for games new generation , as these will automatically be optimized for their multi-core CPUs and their graphics architectures.

The next-generation games like Crysis 3 and Tomb Raider are starting to make a difference compared to previous games by making use of multiple simultaneous processing threads and GPU-accelerated effects, but this will be only the beginning of a long series of changes that will giving in the coming months.

Battlefield 4 is one of the most anticipated games by gamers, and will be officially released between October 29 and November 1. But the alpha version has already started to move and their hardware requirements are not flattering for users of 32-bit operating systems.

As shown in system requirements Battlefield 4 alpha, it does not support XP in any version (32/64 bit) or Windows Vista operating systems, Windows 7 or Windows 8 32-bit editions, supporting only Windows Vista SP2 and Windows 7 64-bit editions (say later versions of the also will support Windows 8 64-bit).

The lack of support for Windows operating systems 32-bit apparently because the uses the instruction set 64 bit (AMD64 or x86-64), a factor that automatically makes it incompatible with operating systems 32 bits.

The Battlefield 4 that support 64-bit instructions allow the game to make use of the large memory capacity of existing equipment, as well as improved processing capacity.

The game requires a video card equipped with GPUs support DirectX 11 or DirectX API 10 have at least 1GB of dedicated graphics memory.

The requirements of the final version of the game might be somewhat different, but it’s not likely to change much.
