China plans first manned mission to the Space Station
China plans to launch the first manned mission to its own Space station this month, according to the state agency Xinhua announced this weekend. This is a step in the Asian giant’s plan to establish a permanent Space Station for the country by 2020.
The spacecraft Shenzhou-9 and their rocket and are mounted on the launch pad at Launch Center in Jiuquan Satellite Northeast. The mission would begin in mid-June.
Three astronauts would be sent to manually connect and l Tiangong-1 module , currently orbiting the Earth. The astronauts would perform scientific experiments while in space, Xinhua said.
In November, China sent the unmanned Shenzhou-8 to connect with Tiangong-1, achieving the first successful remote connection and returning safely to Earth . The technology for maneuvering to connect two ships in space is complex, and China is demonstrating that it has achieved progress in this regard.
