Clover Trail + versus ARM: Surprising Results

The Register published recently conducted research on contrasting performance and power efficiency across multiple CPUs smartphone:

Lenovo K900 against a 2.0GHz Atom Z2580, a Samsung Nexus 10 against a dual-core 1.7GHz Cortex-A15, S4 Galaxy phone running a “big.LITTLE” Exynos Octa, paired with a quad-core Cortex-A15 . Also a Cortex A7, and even a Asus Nexus 7 against a Nvidia Tegra 3.

These phones give a good representation of the current generation technology, and it seems that while the best mobile performance is very similar, the new ATOM does the same with 2/3 of the current, specifically with A 0.85 average in comparison with the second competitor 1.38A lower. This confirms the test conducted by Intel at Computex , which measured the energy as a tablet with Atom CPU, and a tablet with Snapdragon processor.

ATOM seems to have finally found a market segment where you can do very well, while the price is right.

Industry analysts ABI Research, faced a Lenovo smartphone based on an Intel Atom Clover Trail +, against four ARM-based systems. Here the results.
