Club 3D Radeon HD 7870 XT JockerCard “Tahiti” proof

Announced a few weeks ago, now finally comes the new video card Club 3D Radeon HD 7870 XT JockerCard , based on the new Tahiti GPU, video card that is tested by TechPowerUp.

The specifications of the video card Radeon HD 7870 XT JockerCard are:

  • Based on AMD Tahiti GPU (Graphics Core Next architecture “GCN”).
  • 1536 shader processors running at 925MHz (975 MHz in Turbo mode).
  • 2GB of GDDR5 memory “256 bits” running at 1500MHz (6000MHz effective).
  • 96 texture units (TMUs).
  • 32 rendering units (ROPs).
  • CoolStream cooling system.
  • Format double slot.
  • Suggested price: $ 270.

Here some of the tests performed by TechPowerUp:

Although the performance test TechPowerUp Card Club 3D XT seeming to be almost identical to the reference video cards based on GPU AMD Radeon HD 7950 “Tahiti Pro”, I must say that this is due to it is customary to place TechPowerUp performance figures of previous reviews without retesting all cards with updated drivers, so try to Radeon HD 7000 Series (not Tahiti LE) with Catalyst 12.11 Beta 1 and Radeon HD 6000/5000 Series with Catalyst 12.8, while the Radeon HD 7870 XT JockerCard was tested with the latest Catalyst 12.11 Beta 11.

The recent Catalyst 12.11 Beta 11 brings several performance improvements accumulated, which is why we see several tests where LE outperforms Tahiti Tahiti Pro (especially in that received performance increases with the new drivers). So while I do not doubt that the performance of the Club 3D Radeon HD 7870 XT JockerCard very close to that of the Radeon HD 7950, but under the same conditions (same drivers) would be a 1 or 2% lower than shown in this review , which anyway makes it a very good choice for the price.

In terms of consumption, somehow reminds us of the old Cypress GPU Radeon HD 5830 LE, as his performance is a bit lower than her older sister (Pro), but ends up having higher consumption (additional 30W) due it even has less shader processors, they operate at higher frequency, and therefore we need to add memory to high frequency (frequency normal has a greater impact on consumption than the number of “shaders” active, the same applies to his memory).

We recommend you read the full review on TechPowerUp.

Note: will update this story as soon make its appearance some other review where all cards prove equal evaluated.
