Colombia: 5.2 million people have broadband
Yesterday marked the World Day of the Internet, using the occasion, the Ministry of Information Technologies and Communications released some figures relating to the subject for Colombia.
According to the information provided, 5.2 million people have broadband connections, 50% of the projected target for 2014, when it expects to have 8.8 million such connections. It was also noted that there are 2.8 million mobile internet connections.
According to the ICT Ministry, 70% of the population has some access to the Internet. The main activities are to review social networking (96% of Internet users), searching (94%), view multimedia content (83%) use email (78%) and read news (72%).
Meanwhile, 40% of Internet users are between 15 and 24, being the largest group of people connected, followed by those between 25 and 34, reaching 26%.
