Corel Acquires Avid video applications
The corel software company known for its Applications CorelDRAW!, Corel WordPerfect Office Suite, video Studio Pro, WinZip , WinDVD, among others, announced it has acquired the video-editing applications AVID, including the famous Pinnacle Studio and AVID Studio.
With this acquisition, Corel plans to consolidate its position as one of the most important companies in the market for video editing applications for consumers, while offering a broader portfolio of products, covering all needs (capture, edit and share videos).
Corel has not revealed the amount disbursed for this purchase.
Corel is one of the companies that supports GPU accelerated computing (OpenCL), applications such as WinZIP and Corel Video Studio Pro take advantage of high-performance GPUs, so it is expected that future versions of Avid Studio and Pinnacle Studio developed by Corel also make use of that feature.
