Devices of the past who tried to be hybrids or convertibles
Just hit the market Windows 8, and with it comes a new category of laptops: the hybrid or convertible. There are many different designs , but all sharing the same common description, which is the mixture of being a notebook and a tablet at the same time.
But this is not the first time in history that seeks to cross two different sources, and in fact, there are some classic examples and sometimes ridiculous when the industry came up with a machine that could play the role of two.
DSLR Camera Canon 5D MK II
Arguably, this was the first camera to take pictures as well, professional quality video recording. Because if it had a large number of models that did both jobs at the same time, with the Canon 5D and 21Mpx sensor could record at full HD resolution (1080p) and 720p up to 60 frames per second, thanks to a high quality the Canon lens originally designed to take perfect photos.
TV and VHS player
A classic. The concept promised to be very successful: take two of the best-selling electronics, television and VHS, to a single product. Failed to be a success because the cassette functions were more limited than with a standalone device. Also, if it failed, what was common, the TV also got lost.
Launched in 2003, this mobile phone also served as a game console, powered by the Symbian operating system, much closer to the category of smartphones with its performance. Large and the time spent with joystick control on the left side, this unit was not very sold due to lack of flashy games for the platform, in a world where GameBoy consoles and reigned.
Again, we attempted to bring together two of the best-selling devices to create a single, born a rather strange hybrid. But the TV was too small, and to be a portable, was in danger of breaking. The price was high and although it looked very cool machine to take to the streets, was never enough socially acceptable to be sold en masse.
