Futurology: Microsoft buy Yammer for $ 1,000 million
A rumor is circulating the web this morning said that Microsoft will acquire Yammer, a company that offers domestic social networks for businesses (social intranet), for about USD $ 1,000 million, according to which publishes Bloomberg . The deal could close today or tomorrow.
Yammer could be included within the business services offered by Microsoft, and increase the company’s competition with companies like Salesforce (which acquired Buddy Media this month) and Oracle, which recently acquired companies related to Social Network analysis.
Yammer was founded in 2008 and is currently used by more than 200,000 companies, including big as Ford or eBay. The system works similar to Facebook, but is closed to employees of a company and aims to make people work together on projects and share information.
Since 2010, Yammer provides some level of integration with SharePoint.
