Futurology: Skype could be used while playing on the Xbox
Microsoft bought Skype , and it is logical to think that any special use will give the VoIP platform. While there is integration with Windows Phone, also linger rumors that the Xbox will get a version of this application for use in video games.
Although the Xbox already has video chat through Kinect or Live Vision, skype could improve things in interesting ways. This issue resurfaced when Microsoft put a job ad a few days ago that gives some clues. Microsoft seeks a “lead programmer” to “Skype for Xbox.”
“Xbox is a fundamental strategy for Skype in the room, and we are focused on enabling incredible voice and video experience within the games and into the console to the next generation of Xbox. This is a crucial initiative for Xbox, and time is critical because the lead times involved hardware, “says the notice.
Although there have been other job postings on Xbox Skype before, it reveals some additional details of what Microsoft is planning. Apparently the Skype integration will be deeper than just a separate application.
