Goodbye GeForce GTX 680/670/660 Ti and Radeon HD 7990

Goodbye GeForce GTX 680/670/660 Ti and Radeon HD 7990

In May this year launched its family of 700 Series GPUs, formed initially by GPUs GeForce GTX 780 , GeForce GTX 770 and GeForce GTX 760 , although GPUs are based on the same architecture used in Kepler GeForce 600 Series, offer higher performance .

Since the GeForce 700 Series GPUs are physically the same GeForce GPUs based on Kepler GK110 and GK104 cores, and apparently no sense for Nvidia to continue offering them in the settings: GeForce GTX 680, GeForce and GeForce GTX 660 Ti, GPUs reaching the end of its cycle, so it has been by Nvidia.

A similar situation we have in solving the dual “Malta” (released only in April this year), which will be discontinued in September this year, a few days before the release of the new family of Radeon GPUs HD 8000 (or maybe 9000 Series) Sea Islands .

In short, it is not surprising that in a few months, both companies also discontinue other GPUs in order to open the way to new products that remplazen.
