Google and Vevo reach agreement to retain thousands of video clips on YouTube
VEVO is the official platform of video clips of artists from record Labels Sony Music, Universal, Abu Dhabi Media Company and Arthur Music Company, which adds are officially licensed by EMI to play your content. So, many of the artists have their music heard on Vevo.
The problem is that Vevo had an agreement that expired in April with YouTube to provide access to all your videos to the world through Google platform (for something big part of video clips of artists say somewhere ‘Vevo’). The agreement must extend for months while negotiating the new terms.
Finally, Google officially recognized that a new agreement was reached with Vevo (which with 50.2 million unique users in May leaves it as the most watched channel video platform), which was signed a few weeks ago but not officially confirmed until today.
In addition to retaining Vevo music videos on YouTube, the deal also involves a huge investment by Google in Vevo, which could be between $ 40 million and $ 50 million, which would give the Mountain View company the control Vevo 7%.
