Google Doodle celebrates birth of Julius Richard Petri, inventor of the Petri dish
Julius Richard Petri is a German bacteriologist who was born on May 31, 1852, and in 1877 created the Petri dish was the assistant while Robert Koch (winner of the Nobel Prize for discovering the tuberculosis bacillus and considered the father of bacteriology modern). He died on December 20, 1921.
The Today’s Google Doodle commemorates the birth of Petri, showing six Petri plates with the corresponding bacterial culture of everyday objects like a lock, sponge for washing dishes or a dirty sock.
