Google gets rid of the division of Motorola that made TV receivers
When Google bought Motorola Mobility last year, also got his division Motorola Home TV receivers (also called set-top box), which apparently was not of interest and now the company managed to sell arris Group, who paid the sum of $ 2,350 million even though they are a medium company providing equipment to move networks.
And is that Google has made its own attempts to enter the market for set-top box, with Nexus Q as a failed attempt of that, so surely are planning different strategies to conquer the world of television in their own way without the technologies owned Motorola Mobility, who has already made enough thanks to its 17,000 patents and the mobile phone business.
It remains to see what will happen with Arris Group after this purchase: for the moment, the value of their shares on the stock rose 17% after the announcement, however, another company providing set-top box (TiVo) maintains a claim lawsuit against Motorola Mobility for use of patents, so Google decided to Arris if TiVo wins the case, the big G will bear the costs.
