Happy Birthday, PCI!
The Peripheral Component Interconnect Special Interest Group (PCI-SIG), a consortium that is responsible for the specification for the pci connectivity standard, reminds us that today marks the 20th Anniversary since the establishment of PCI port that was born long ago and has had large variations to the present, with the pcie one of its most popular implementations.
And as part of this event, the PCI-SIG expressed concerns about the future of technology, indicating that there is now a deficit in the implementation for mobile devices such as laptops (notebooks) and tablets, highlighting the need for them they believe a more compact version.
On the other hand, in the area of traditional desktop computers things are going very well, with the PCIe 3.0 standard already established and highly anticipated version 4.0 to move data up to 16 GT/sec, so the future is relatively secure .
