HBO refused to reach an agreement with Netflix
“We are not discussing or have plans to work with Netflix.” hbo was so clear today, to the disappointment of those who hoped someday to see shows like “Game of Thrones,” “The Sopranos” or “Sex and the City” in the subscription service. The statement came in response to some suggestions made by the CEO of Netflix, Reed Hastings, the possibility of working together with cable television.
“While we compete for the content and time for hearing on HBO, you may also find opportunities to work together-as we do with other chains,” said Hastings, in an attempt to quell the rivalry between the two companies in USA. HBO is a subscription service as well (HBO Go), which allows Americans to access their content via the Internet on PCs, tablets and smartphones.
The chain does not seem to have the same vision as Netflix. In the past they have had disagreements, as when HBO refused to sell DVDs of “True Blood” for Netflix disc rental service to the wholesale price.
Netflix is seen as a rival and enemy of several Cable TV companies, although the company says its service is a snap and can work together.
