Icelandic ISPs to block porn and evaluate Internet gambling

The largest Internet service providers in could block access to porn and gambling sites in the country, for security reasons. The measure would be an initiative of Vodafone and Síminn companies to try to defend their clients from malware.

The issue, of course, raised alarms about whether this can be considered censorship. A Vodafone spokesman clarified then The Reykjavik Grapevine that the company had considered activate your service online filters by default to all connections, instead of customers opted to activate the filter. Those who were not comfortable with these limitations, could disable the filter settings by accessing your account on the website of the company.

In April, there was a debate in England about ordering ISPs to block porn to protect children . The plan came to nothing, but apparently not the only ones who have had the same idea.
