IFA 2012: Sony Announces NEX-5R with WiFi and downloadable applications
Sony announced a new version of its mirrorless cameras, under the name of NEX-5R, with some key additions, like a wheel controls to change the settings easily, and a function button that gives you even more options to the wheel .
The 16.1 megapixel Camera improved performance autofocus system with a hybrid AF system that combines phase detection and contrast detection focus to deliver a faster and more accurate.
Perhaps the most notable new feature is the addition of WiFi connectivity to the camera, becoming the first interchangeable lens to implement this function. Includes the option to use a smartphone as a remote control of the camera through the Smart Remote Control, available for iOS and Android, and the ability to upload images directly to the Web via Direct Upload.
The NEX-5R goes a step further with PlayMemories, applications that can be downloaded directly to the camera and it will include tools for retouching photos or help capture images in sequence, and more.
According to Sony, this camera is aimed at DSLR users who are considering to try a mirrorless camera. The camera also includes a tilting touch screen, you can press to focus. You can record video in 1080p at 60 frames per second and weighs 218 grams (without lens).
It goes on sale in October in the United States, in silver, white and black for $650 or $750 with 18-55mm lens.
