Imagination Technologies announces new MIPS microprocessors Series5 “Warrior”

Imagination Technologies, a company known for its family of PowerVR GPUs, a few months ago acquired MIPS , achieving its own ecosystem CPU / GPU with which he planned to compete against AMR and x86 in the market for devices and micro-servidores/servidores.

The day has come, announces new Series 5 microprocessors based on the new Warrior, successor to the micro-architecture Aptiv , launched in May last year.

The microarchitecture includes significant improvements over Aptiv, among which we can mention:

  • MIPS SIMD (MSA): Powerful computing unit vector parallel programmable via C / OpenCL dedicated to increasing performance intensive applications, while helping to reduce energy consumption.
  • Multi-layered Security Technology: Hardware Protected environment for network protocols, payment services, content protected and safe execution of applications.
  • Hardware-assisted Virtualization (VZ): hardware virtualization environments 32 and 64 bits, ideal for the corporate sector and servers.

Imagination Technologies MIPS microprocessors may be licensed from the end of this year and are available in both 32-bit (MIPS32) and 64 bits (MIPS64), offering full compatibility with applications developed for MIPS32/MIPS64 instruction sets, to the Once that promise a considerable increase in performance and very low power consumption.
