Intel Clover Trail SoC compares its a Snapdragon, energy consumption
At the Computex trade show in Taipei, a journalist from TweakTown showed a comparison of the energy consumption in real time between two tablets, one powered with intel Clover Trail, and the other with a qualcomm snapdragon processor.
The tablets were the same size. Intel engineer ran identical in both tasks, more or less the same time. Both devices were connected to a computer that measured the energy consumption of CPU and GPU, in both systems, in real time.
In the following video you can see that the overall power consumption of the processor and graphics are very similar to the Windows 8 user interface.
To force further comparison, the Intel engineer decided to run further, a game, the popular Angry Birds Space, to see how these processors consume this type of application, which combines graphics processing CPU processing and sound effects.
This time, Intel seemed to perform much better battery saving, which Intel says is due to some “optimizations of software, hardware, and other various”. If confirmed with other third-party testing, the power consumption of Intel mobile processor, could really compete with some ARM chips.
