Intel does not plan to penetrate the market of video cards
Perhaps many do not know, but many years ago intel got ready to conquer the graphics market (dominated at that time by companies like 3dfx, Nvidia, ATI and S3 Graphics ), for which acquired Chips & Technologies, whose technologies in the 1998 launched its gpu i740, i752 followed by the GPU (1999).
The Intel i740 and i752 GPUs had little acceptance in the industry, why Intel abandoned the dedicated GPU manufacturing, focusing on adapting and improving its graphics technologies (incidentally bought the Real3D GPU manufacturer) for integration into the chipsets and later in their own microprocessors, path it has remained to the present with recent GPU Haswell Graphics Core Microprocessors integrated into its fourth generation “Haswell”.
The Intel GPU Graphics GT3E Haswell (Iris Pro 5200) is the most powerful GPU developed by Intel, and has a graphics performance exceeds that of any current IGP , reason why many analysts believe that if you ever think back to Intel dedicated GPU manufacturing, this would be a very good time.
In this query, Intel revealed that currently is not in their plans to re-enter the market for dedicated GPUs, so it will continue its focus on integrated graphics, and its parallel accelerators Xeon Phi.
They were also asked if they would consider launching a Core i3 hypothetical K with unlocked multiplier, to which they responded that they do not consider releasing such a product.
