Intel readies two new Atom chips for smartphones
The intel atom microprocessor family known for its SmartPhone codenamed Medfield continues to grow, as Intel has just added two new members to the previously launched Atom Z2460 , Z2610 and Z2000 , Z2480 and the new Atom Z2420.
Previously known as Medfield at 2.0GHz , now debuts with the official business name Atom Z2480, and has a core running at 1.3GHz (2.0GHz in Turbo mode), thanks to HyperThreading technology is capable of running two processing threads.
New mono-core Medfield chip running at 1.2GHz (no Turbo Boost technology) and thanks to HyperThreading technology is capable of running two processing threads.
Both new microprocessors have a memory controller integrated dual channel LPDDR2 and graphics Imagination Technologies PowerVR SGX 540 running at 400MHz. It is expected that the first smartphones based on them hatgan appeared late this year or early next.
