Iran launches its own version of YouTube
Years ago, in Iran declared “inappropriate” the video site YouTube, mainly because of the alleged negative influence of Western culture to the people of the country, so it has initiated a complex and comprehensive project to create a sort of “internal network” in the area, independent of traditional Internet and of course, better regulated it at the hands of local government.
And one of the first steps that it has taken to creating www.mehr.ir , a service that will replace and deliver YouTube Videos from the main station in Iran (IRIB), official character and have control of what is broadcast in the portal, also in charge of supervising the content users upload.
To encourage use “will” of the people, in mehr.ir, is organizing a competition for cartoons and other short films, seeking attention through such initiatives, not the lock that Iran takes the social networking or censure with which they attack their inhabitants.
