LG Spain we introduced the new generation of its Smart 3D Cinema TV
The TV has long want us to call the “idiot box”. And manufacturers are being accomplices to do: Every day the market for Smart TV, or TV ‘smart’ has new members, and the variety on offer will end getting what many are waiting: That the price drops.
While we are aware of the new models entering the manufacturers catalog, so this morning we were with the people of LG in Spain to meet its proposed new Cinema 3D Smart TV, ie televisions capable of reproducing images three-dimensional, with an Internet connection and a number of applications that make them “smarter.”
The new range of Smart 3D CINEMA TV groups and LM860V LM960V models as the most comprehensive (incorporating a control with voice recognition and motion) and LM670S models, LM671S, LM760S and LM765S, to be launched with a command of 3 modes (pointer, gesture control and scroll) that facilitates Internet browsing and interaction in general with the TV. We’re talking about TVs ranging from 42 to 55 inches, and all incorporate more or less the same features as I detail below.
Thus, one of the main innovations of the new generation of Smart TV from LG is the simplification of the interface, they have done considerably more intuitive grouping so the user can do in a sort of menu “tabs” for easy access applications and features on TV: Content Premium Content 3D, LG and LG Smart World Smart Share. The truth seems to me that this grouped menu functions, yes that is more intuitive, because when you turn on the TV so see is more or less as follows:
The “premium content” are shortcuts to the applications you have installed on your TV: TV on demand, channel applications, the application of time, etc.. Say “Premium” does not mean they are to pay, as well we clarified the LG guys (because the truth is the impression given by that name) but are more elaborate and the most commonly used.
Then there is the menu “3D Content,” which as the name suggests is a three-dimensional video catalog can be viewed in 3D Cinema and commented as we currently have about 130 free content, the LG Smart World is the same as before called “LG Apps”, and that is their market applications including content, games, among others, and its LG Smart Share for sharing content and instructions between the TV and other devices such as PCs, phones, tablets, etc..
These menus are easily editable and can be customized according to user interest. The social aspect was also careful in these Cinema 3D Smart TV: Includes what they called a “Social Center” and that is just an application that integrates Twitter and Facebook on the side of the screen, so you can still see the programming and comment in real time through social networks. As new models in the 3D Cinema incorporate Smart TV USB ports and are compatible with keyboards and mice, social experience is simplified.
Following news, it stopped in its exterior design, the LG also have worked to improve its Cinema 3D Smart TV to make them more and more stylized, so that even when turned off are a detail of which to be proud to come home. Bases or pedestals are increasingly oriented to decorate that only provide support for the TV, which combined with the frames that are becoming more fine, make the TV look more like an ornament. They point to LG.
This is one of the innovations of the new range of Smart 3D Cinema LG TV: The ability to “communicate” with your television with simple movements (gesture recognition) and speaking (speech recognition).
Also acts as a mouse and a course: As the scroll button of your control, you roll up / down to scroll through a website, you zoom the screen or change the channel. It also lets you use it as a mouse cursor: You point, you select the application icon you want and click on it to get started.
The latter told us, because they could not show for us, because they had problems with the TV set at the event and the Internet connection … Sad because it was one of the coolest features that we were told, and not view it in action I can not tell more about …
This Magic Control is included in more complete models of the new range, ie LM860V LM960V and, as I mentioned earlier.
New 3D glasses
One thing I must say is that the proposed 3D Cinema since I’ve always liked the fact that it employs simple glasses, of which we use in movies and we can buy anywhere. In addition they are lightweight, have no batteries and are easy to find and cheap.
Now we had a couple of glasses developments regarding concerns: The first is that being polarized allows what way have dubbed “Dual Play” and already had seen at IFA 2011 : It uses the same polarization in both crystals and differs in each of the two glasses. Thus, the time to enjoy a couple games to play, both players will see your character in full screen, clear and crisp, and not with the split screen we usually play in this type of game.
As you see in the picture, the legs of the glasses makes which of the players are, so that when used in full screen you can see the scene that corresponds to your character in the game. We do not specify the price of this pair of special glasses to the Dual Play, but considering that there are glasses of special material, or with batteries, should be relatively inexpensive, do not think that cost 30 euros more than the two … I hope not wrong.
Also new in terms of presenting concerns itself glasses that I liked a lot: 3D Cinema Glasses Clip-On to fit any frame.
This is ideal for users who wear glasses normally: Goodbye to having to wear contact lenses when you go to the cinema to see a movie 3D! No more having to wear a pair of 3D glasses on yours own to see the movie, and suffer all the time because you will slide off your face! I will confess that this innovation has made me very happy. Price? I was told to be traded between 20 and 30 euros.
Pricing and Availability
The flagship of this new series, LM960V will be available in two sizes: 55 inches by 3,499 euros, and 47 inches by 2,799 euros.
While the LG guys did not have details on the exact prices of the other models, they are supposed to be a bit cheaper because they have different benefits.
The good news is that despite the new features, the prices are within the range that we were seeing in these sets, which gives me the feeling that they are even going down … Are we close to the democratization of the Smart TV? I think it’s a question of time and the speed with which manufacturers move: the more deals we have on the market, we know that prices, fortunately we tend to fall.
