Linux Mint launched version 13 “Maya”

Alternatives to 2 in Linux? The distribution delivers that and much more, having now reached version 13 aka “Maya”, where you can choose from the environment MATE 1.2 or 1.4 to work, each with its particular focus, the first being a stable and mature, while the second more “daring” and innovative.

And is that was discontinued and abandoned by its developers, so Mint moved from the platform to the two above mentioned, being MATE project which aims to continue the legacy of GNOME 2. On the other hand, uses higher Cinnamon 3D elements and hardware acceleration to move, but has fewer features and shows more unstable and less support than GNOME.

Other than that, brings with it a new image manager called “MDM Display Manager”, along with showing graphical improvements in the issues and new wallpapers. Yahoo! is now the default browser in the operating system, which is based on Ubuntu 12.04.
