London police have spent millions on watch Julian Assagne
Over a year ago that Julian Assagne took refuge in the Embassy of Ecuador in London, after seeking asylum so to avoid the persecution that has undergone in recent years. This move forced the Police to stand guard day and night just to arrest the founder of Wikileaks in case you decide to leave the building.
According to a letter from the Metropolitan Police sent to a member of the London Assembly on 1 July, this operation has cost the police force a total of 3.8 million pounds (USD $ 5.67 billion), of which more than corresponds to the fifth overtime payments. While police have not issued an official requierimiento be reimbursed that amount, Commissioner Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe said that already in talks with officials from the Interior Minister to reach an agreement. The cost to taxpayers is very high and according to the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, is a waste of money that has been spent on watch Assagne.
