Microsoft SkyDrive adds a recycle bin and Excel announces polls
SkyDrive already had previous versions of Office documents stored by a user, but did not offer an intermediate step to remove content. According to Microsoft’s blog, user queries to retrieve deleted files, both intentionally and accidentally moved the team to perform the update.
This feature would gradually enabled on all accounts and work keeping deleted items for three days to reach 10% of the Storage limit. After overcoming this limit will start deleting the oldest files from the trash.
The other announcement was the form of surveys based on Excel spreadsheets, much like the “Forms” of Google Docs. With this new document option, the user can create a poll for suggestions of a group project, gather feedback and research findings, among many other applications.
Microsoft points out that, “unlike competing services, you can easily use the power of Excel Web App, Excel for Windows and Excel for Mac to classify, analyze and graph the results of your survey,” a clear allusion the Google tool.
SkyDrive was elected in the popular The Editor’s Choice survey publication PC Magazine as a recommended product for cloud storage, which for many years did not receive Microsoft.
Polls Excel function will be available in a few weeks, but has not yet reported the exact release date.
