MIT students create T (ether), control system with gloves to Minority Report
Students of the Media Lab at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), created a system for controlling software using gloves, similar to what Tom Cruise did in Minority Report, but instead of big screens used iPads.
In the demo video you can see below, students try to create and move objects on screen Digital ipad with movements of the hand, especially useful for working with 3D volumes and virtual spaces. It also allows collaboration between people.
To generate the motion capture used a camera Vicon motion capture, normally used in the film, and not the camera that comes with the device. The apparatus can be seen inserted into the corner of the device.
Although it looks pretty good, seems a bit uncomfortable to be holding the iPhone with one hand while trying to make gestures with the other in the air. May be applied differently later.Control, Gloves, hands, ipad, minority report, MIT, T (ether)
