Mozilla wants to turn web surfers into creators

The Foundation Mozilla announced a couple of hours a new project, aimed at all users also surf the web, want to “create”, through Webmaker Mozilla. This is a program to encourage people to learn about programming languages and tools available on the web.

On the site are invited to participate in a variety of activities including the Summer Party Code of Mozilla, to be held between 23 June and 23 September where experts from various fields taught courses and tricks to learn.

To enhance this activity, has partnered with leading organizations and individuals associated with the technological and cultural category to expand and diversify its agenda, such as Creative Commons, Tumblr, the San Francisco Public Library, the London Zoo, Cory Doctorow and musician Damian Kulash.

Moreover, Mark Surman, Mozilla director addressed the issue and stated that “the web is becoming the second language in the world and a fundamental skill for the twenty-first century, as important as reading, writing and arithmetic” , to which he adds that “it is crucial to giving people the tools they need to understand, model and actively participate in that world, rather than passively consume it.”
