MS12-078 update corrupts some fonts in Windows XP / 7
The second Tuesday of each month Microsoft releases its monthly set of updates for windows family of operating systems and Office suite of office applications, and Dec. 11 among them had to update KB2753842 MS12-078 , which fixes a serious vulnerability that allows malicious code execution when opening documents with embedded TrueType and OpenType fonts.
Many users who installed the update began reporting corruption issues fonts in Windows XP/2003 operating systems and Windows 7 (apparently Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows 8 and Windows Server 2013 does not suffer from this problem), which perceived from applications such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and CorelDraw X3/X4/X5/X6, problems that have been confirmed by Corel.
corel says that this problem has affected them seriously, but they can not do anything to resolve it, as it has been caused by Microsoft, and must be solved by them. It is recommended that users affected by the problem uninstall the Patch KB2753842 from the Add or Remove Programs in the Windows control panel.
