NVIDIA shows its technology Fur / Hair accelerated by GPU
A few months ago AMD introduced its technology TressFX , released in the game Tomb Raider , apply effects and enables GPU-accelerated physics to each of the hairs of Lara Croft. Today Nvidia shows similar technology.
During the event E3 Expo, Nvidia made a brief demonstration of its new technology (no official name yet but this is probably physx Fur and / or PhysX Hair) focused to render hair / fur (Fur) and hair (Hair) of the characters games, leveraging the power of calculating its geforce family.
The first game to make use of this new technology will be The Witcher 3 and thanks to her characters and animals shown in the game will be more realistic than the previous versions of it.
Nvidia says that the use of this technology will not have much impact on graphics performance, although it applies to multiple characters and animals simultaneously.
