Pirate Pay, the new arm in the fight against piracy
In Hollywood for killing piracy are detrimental to your business, nothing to argue about it. But it seems that it is up to something that goes beyond simple legal tantrums and bickering against those who administer several famous download sites. And is that instead of attacking the sources, it may be a good idea to go straight to the torrent file traffic and sowing such confusion and chaos. As if it was the Joker.
That’s what I intend to do Pirate Pay, a Russian company that developed a technology to infiltrate the P2P swarm and attack the problem from within. The idea is not new, according to Torrent Freak report, but had started a few years ago and apparently for another purpose, however, throughout the testing process its creators realized that it was possible to stop the traffic of files between point to point, and that they lit the lamp: there would be people very interested in this work.
Of course, Pirate Pay began to develop a business model and last year, Microsoft Russia made a donation of $ 100,000 to the coffers of Pirate Pay. Subsequent to that, Sony and Disney “hired” technology and for a month at Pirate Pay were devoted to stopping illegal transactions of a movie prop in both studies. For that, used anti-piracy servers connected to each P2P client that was distributing the files or the movie, once connected, it started to send traffic to those customers in order to create confusion and finally ended up disconnecting between them.
Does the method? Apparently he managed to stop more than 44,000 transactions, even if that number is important or not can be known only when compared to the number of downloads that do reach their destination without problem. In any case, extending the technology or not, the feeling that attacking the traffic moving through Bit Torrent is a daunting task, so the question is whether this could come to fruition in the future, or if it becomes yet another slap of drowned after stopping the scourge of piracy, which makes him much harm to the industry. Note the irony, of course.
In case anyone is interested in hiring the services of Pirate Pay, know that could disburse amounts from the $ 12,000 to $ 50,000 USD.
