Prepare 1TB optical discs for 2015
optical discs (CDs, DVDs and BluRay) are going out of fashion, with some companies pushing the abandonment of this format in the computer industry to debut without giving emphasis to readers and other mass Storage options, like external devices via USB or Thunderbolt and more importantly, the alternatives to store information in the Internet cloud.
Despite this, Fujifilm remains committed to the development of new technologies that are showing now capable of manufacturing an optical disc with 1TB capacity, which has been achieved by having 40 layers of 25GB each, with potential to increase this in the future have to 15TB units at a price as cheap as the magnetic tape.
The only problem I see is that Fujifilm needs still too long to bring to market this invention, as it promised the new Office 2015 and we are considering that 2012 and the technology is already dying, do not want or think how things will be in about two or three years, so good luck with that, Fujifilm.
