Qualcomm announces a new efficient NFC chip
One of the main obstacles to the NFC is massively extend its power consumption, something that many manufacturers still make quite. But instead of complaining qualcomm prefer to launch a new NFC chip QCA1990 name, promising smaller and therefore less consumption.
This QCA1990 comes through Qualcomm Atheros and according to the press release is the soc “smaller and more efficient, whose footprint is 50% smaller than current NFC chips on the market.” In addition, the new chip is integrated “platform level” with the S4 Snapdragon processor and next generation processors of the brand, which will allow the NFC start appearing in phones expand bearing that technology inside.
In Qualcomm Atheros believe that NFC will be an essential part of the experience of mobile usage in the future, and therefore believe that this new SoC help your mass. And even more so thanks to its efficiency and price, that promise will be less than the current bid, which is sure to be appealing to manufacturers who want to integrate this technology into their products.
Will have to see if the QCA1990 really is more efficient than their peers in terms of consumption. The chip will begin shipping during the first quarter of 2013.
