Qualcomm announces Snapdragon S4 SoC two new Play Series

Qualcomm announces Snapdragon S4 SoC two new Play Series

Qualcomm, a company considered the biggest rival of Intel , announced the launch of its new S4 Play and MSM8225Q, quad-core SoCs for cheap smartphones.

Unlike the rest of the family of SoCs Snapdragon S4 Series (Plus, Pro and Prime) based on Krait architecture (itself based on the Cortex-A15) and manufactured with the 28nm manufacturing process at TSMC, the Snapdragon S4 SoC Play Series are based on the ARM architecture Cortex-A5 (compatible with the ARMv7 instruction set), which uses the old system in order execution (in-order execution), unlike architectures as Cortex-A7 / A9/A15 using out of order execution (out-of-order execution), also lack of L2 cache, and are manufactured with the 45nm manufacturing process.

Both also have graphics SoC Qualcomm adreno 203 (support 720P resolution), integrated LPDDR2 memory controller, USB 2.0, driver camera (8MP), Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and FM connectivity. The SoC MSM8625Q (1.2Ghz) incorporates a modem CDMA / UMTS, whereas (1GHz) a UMTS modem.

Both SoC will be available later this year.
