Red Hat will do the ARM port of OpenJDK to 64

If AMD was recently , now gets a new partner for project, as has announced that gets into the car to work with the version for ARM64.

The announcement was made yesterday, and that is mainly due to “the current status of OpenJDK on ARM is regrettable.” Andrew Haley of Red Hat said, but still can not give many details due to a confidentiality agreement, the result of the work will be ready for Christmas, will be completely free and open, and open invitation to anyone who wants to join work.

Currently, there are two versions of the Java Virtual Machine for ARM, called Hotspot: an Oracle-proprietary and open position, but has a much lower yield. The idea is that this does not happen in ARM64, and that’s why Red Hat took the bull by the horns and embarked on this challenge that has pretty excited, even though they recognize some “shock” given the magnitude of the project .
