Rumor: AMD GPUs will launch its “Tahiti 2″ next week
Since early last month is known that amd plans to release a new gpu which for now is known as Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition “Tahiti 2″ , and as we discussed those SemiAccurate, this new GPU could be launched officially next weeks.
Apparently this new GPU will be an improvement to the original tahiti chip (the one used in GPUs AMD Radeon HD 7970 and Radeon HD 7950 ), which in some ways reminiscent of the improvement that occurred between the Radeon HD 4870 (RV770 XT) and the Radeon HD 4890 (RV790 XT), but unlike them, the new Tahiti 2 promises to increase graphics performance by 15 to 20% but not increase consumption.
The new AMD GPU has little power leakage, which allows you to keep the same power that the current GPU Tahiti, and is expected to be available in two versions: pro and XT, xt variant will be called Radeon HD 7970GHz Edition, the Pro variant may in a hypothetical Edition Radeon hd 7950 GHz or a new nomenclature as Radeon HD 7960.
It is unknown whether the chip is codenamed Tahiti 2, or maybe it’s mysterious GPU Oland, sighted drivers AMD Catalyst 8.98-120604th .
