Rumor: NVIDIA readies its new GeForce GTX 660 SE
Last week came to light suggesting a Rumor that Nvidia plans to launch its new GeForce GTX 660 and GeForce GTX 660 Ti at the end of this month , rumor is challenged by new information that comes from PHK by PC Games Hardware, and suggesting that Nvidia launched its geforce gtx 660 Series between this and next month, being more likely to be released in August.
But the new information is not limited only to a slight change in release date, but also mentioned a new variant of the graphics core Nvidia cut gk104 Kepler, which will have 768 shader processors probably (4 SMX assets, ie, practically half of the units for calculating the GK104 chip disabled) and will trade name: GeForce GTX 660 SE.
Leaving aside the rumors, it is highly unlikely that Nvidia chip set so maimed, as in the years of evolution of GPUs has not seen a product this gelding. If the rumor about a possible GeForce GTX 660 SE, it is likely that this is based on the still unreleased gk106 core, which will have 768 shader processors just in its fully functional configuration (without any of disabled computing units .)
Apparently we will have three GeForce GTX 660 Series: The standard and variant SE (Second Edition) and Ti (Titanium).
