Russians make competition to install a memorial of Steve Jobs in St. Petersburg
An organization of fans of Steve Jobs is holding a contest to install a monument of the founder of Apple in St. Petersburg, Russia. The foundation called on people to send their ideas for the monument, which will be evaluated by a panel of specialists in advanced information technologies that will choose the top three.
The organization hopes to make an online poll with the three finalists. Proposals are accepted in Russian or in English until the August 6 and can be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org, or through the official website .
The organizers justified the installation of this tribute in St. Petersburg as the city is considered a technology center in Russia. “The most famous universities are located here, the Leningrad School of Programming was recognized as one of the best in Russia, VKontakte, which is the only competitor of Facebook Russian, also founded and is based in St. Petersburg,” says official website.
The exact location of the monument will be decided after the city authorities, after agreeing on the concept, materials and scale of the project.
