When the artist Dominic Wilcox was commissioned to design a product to promote the Global Footprint project in Scotland, decided to create a pair of with an integrated to help users to walk back to their homes through a set of lights indicating the right direction and the distance yet to go.

According to Wilcox, the inspiration came from the Wizard of Oz ruby shoes and wearing the star.
