SoC Tegra 5 will be manufactured with a 20nm manufacturing process, Samsung
The future soc Tegra 4 “Wayne”, promises to double the performance of the current Tegra 3 , because it is based on the high performance architecture of arm Cortex-A15, but Nvidia is also working on its successor, Tegra 5 “Logan”, whose specifications are unknown for now.
Although so far little is known of Tegra 5, we could assume that perhaps is based on 64-bit architecture ARMv8, and perhaps make a combined use of ARM cores Apollo and atlas (64 bit architecture big.LITTLE ARM) to to provide a good balance between performance and consumption.
From Softpedia inform us that have found that Tegra 5 will be manufactured with the 20nm manufacturing process from Samsung, which could mean the end of maintaining exclusivity tried Nvidia and TSMC.
It is noteworthy that other companies like Qualcomm have also opted for Samsung (which also manufactures Apple SoC and its own Exynos SoC), so this could in some way to enforce the many rumors circulating in the industry on TSMC inability to satisfy the power output required by many chip industry fabless companies.
