Spotify adds new features to discover songs and artists follow

Going slightly terrain of networking, announced new sections to its service, called Discover, Collection and Follow.

The first suggests and recommends bands and according to your taste in music, based on the music you’ve heard in the past, and the artists you follow. This tab also recommend artists who are performing in the vicinity.

The “Collection” brings together your songs in one place, instead of having everything spread over several playlists. Meanwhile, the “Follow” allows you to follow friends and celebrities like Shakira, Ashton Kutcher, Barack Obama and others. Once you follow them, you will see the songs you are listening and playlists in “Discovery”.

Spotify verified with a brand artists (similar to making Twitter), so that fans are not fooled by imposters. Also added a notification system that alerted to new albums from your favorite artists.

With that Spotify will end up having five sections: Search, Discover, Radio, Collection and Follow. The company said it currently has over 5 million users who pay a subscription of a total of 24 million active users. It was also reported that there are nearly 1,000 million playlists created in the service.
