Super Rumor: Seagate is thinking of buying OCZ

is perhaps one of the most successful companies around the market for solid state drives (SSD) with a broad product portfolio and enjoying an excellent reputation they have earned through their high quality devices. And being Seagate one of the two dominant companies as regards hard drives , they certainly have the money to take over the company.

Thus, the dark hallway rumors now point to an impending acquisition, since OCZ being independent and too successful to stay that way. That is why in addition to Seagate, Micron and several others have also expressed interest in doing business in what will surely be a close contest for the acquisition.

But materialize, would give them a great dominion as far as mass Storage is concerned, since along with Western Digital maintains a duopoly in the area of hard drives , now entering the technology that promises to be the future in mass storage: the SSD.

And how much for OCZ? As the stock market (NASDAQ), the cost is $ 308 million, however, Seagate would be willing to pay much more than this to be done with all the technology and patents for the company. We’ll see if this proves true or not.
