The Mona Lisa is illuminated by LED
The event unveiled the innovative lamp that uses 34 LEDs, which facilitates the clearance of the color change thanks to its protective glass and ambient light. With this change in the lighting of the Mona Lisa and the Red Room is the first time that LED technology has been used to illuminate the interior of the museum.
The Louvre Museum and Toshiba maintain a partnership agreement since June 2010. Toshiba has already renewed the lighting of the Pyramid, the Colbert pavilion and lounge Court of Napoleon. This renewal has led to a reduction of over 73% in energy consumption outside the museum.
In the next stages of the renovation of the Louvre light, LED lighting will be installed in the Court Carrée in late 2013 and in the lounge Napoleon during the first part of 2014.
