The new CEO of Zynga would have tried to buy the company while at Microsoft
Zynga’s new CEO and former head of the entertainment division of Microsoft (read Xbox), Don Mattrick , have attempted to acquire all or part of the signature creator of Farmville in 2010. The goal would have been to incorporate social games, which at that time amounted to millions of players from Facebook. According to what Bloomberg says the talks ultimately failed.
Nevertheless, Mattrick seems to have been impressed Zynga have decided to take the post of CEO although the company is no longer as popular as three years ago, and has lost ground to phenomena like King Candy Crush .
Zynga is in a difficult time, trying to move from social networks to mobile gaming, and will certainly be a challenge to adapt to the company Mattrick and return success. In the last year, the company has closed games and fired 520 people .
