Toshiba displayed its new hybrid drive 1TB
As part of the Flash Memory Summit 2012, Toshiba has just introduced its new hybrid drive solution and made a small step (and even small) show some of the capabilities of this against the SSDs and traditional hard drives. Specifically, the system boot times, which scored just 12 seconds left.
That time, according to reports, was clearly on the starting time of a common hard disk and only slightly below a solid state drive (SSD). Regarding the specifications of this new model, which is mentioned 9.5mm, has 1 TB capacity, nand flash memory of 8 GB, and 5400RPM.
Although the single-site test drive was the boot of the operating system, Toshiba said that this hybrid reaches transfer speeds up to 80 MB / sec, with a total score of 16,000 in 3DMark Vantage.
For now, there was a release date or a price less estimated, unlike its new line of SSD is expected to arrive later this year. It will be interesting to know the prices of Toshiba scheme for these solutions, which will surely be less prohibitive than the SSD for the ordinary user, while offering some advantages in terms of performance.
